Madhouse to Resume Production of Yume-Miru Kikai

Personally, I think it’s a great thing that Satoshi Kon’s final work is set to be completed. It’ll stand as testament to his life’s work, as well as being a tribute to him. After all the time and effort he surely put into it before passing, it would be a travesty to leave it unfinished. We’ll have to trust that the Yoshimi Itazu and the rest of the team at Madhouse studios will be able to complete it exactly as Kon intended.

At this point the only information we have on the movie other than the name and a few teaser images is from a quote by Satoshi Kon in an interview with Anime News Network.

“On the surface, it’s going to be a fantasy-adventure targeted at younger audiences. However, it will also be a film that people who have seen our films up to this point will be able to enjoy. So it will be an adventure that even older audiences can appreciate. There will be no human characters in the film; only robots. It’ll be like a ‘road movie’ for robots.”

Not much more information has been released regarding Yume-Miru Kikai, it’s plot, or it’s release date, so for now we can just be left with the relief of knowing that it will be finished and maybe Satoshi Kon will be able to rest in peace. Until then, this has just been another news update by The Geek With Taste.
